A Night of Countless Wishes

Many of you may have already enjoyed the peak of the Perseid meteor shower which has been in full effect since Wednesday night, but for us, tonight is the night to wish upon a star – or several hundreds of meteors.  This particular meteor shower follows the comet Swift-Tuttle which makes its way near our planet every 133-135 years – so, this is likely your only opportunity to catch this show 😉

My kids have been anticipating this night for weeks – my son was even willing to forgo a trip to California with his grandparents if it was going to be a conflict with this event.  Part of the excitement for him includes staying up way past bedtime, eating smores by the fire, and camping out in a tent…all in his aunt & uncle’s back yard, but that is still super cool when you’re seven.

So, if you haven’t yet, take the time to drive beyond the boundaries of the bright city lights and enjoy one of the most spectacular shows you’ll ever see – no tickets required – and don’t forget to make a wish…or hundreds of them!

It’s Wiggle Time…Live and In Concert!

Captain Feathersword, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus,Wags the Dog…what do these characters all have in common? Here’s a hint: they’re all part of the wildly entertaining, musically talented, Australian entertainment group established in 1991 – a notoriously hip bunch of music moguls who continue to rock the top of the pre-k charts again and again – still not sure who I’m talking about? Well, here’s another hint: they hold seventeen gold awards, twelve platinum, three double-platinum, and ten multi-platinum for sales of over 17 million DVDs and four million CDs. Oh, and they’re wild, super silly, and wiggly too…you guessed it, they’re all part of The Wiggles…and they’re making a stop in Denver on their world tour!

This goofy group of guys – sporting shirts of yellow, purple, red, and blue – have choreographed their way into the hearts of our children and become a significant part of worldwide pop culture. They have been praised for their success in contributing to childhood development and for getting kids up and moving their way to a healthy lifestyle, and if you have a little Wiggles fan in your household, you know how much kids love these crazy guys.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take my preschooler to see The Wiggles in Concert at the Wells Fargo Theater in downtown Denver this week…we had a blast! The concert was rockn’ with familiar Wiggles tunes, lots of dancing, and of course, an appearance by each of the Wiggles characters. Several fans brought roses for Dorothy the Dinosaur while others made signs to waive high in the air. Some lucky members of the audience got to take pictures with The Wiggles as they danced around the crowd. We were able to make our way to the front of the stage for lots of dancing and singing.

The concert was an experience that my daughter won’t soon forget, and one that I will forever cherish – with memories of her giggling with excitement to see the show and belly laughing at Wags the Dog. The Wiggles have a few shows remaining in our area and there’s still time to reserve your seat!
